Maxxmod is a browser extension that customizes the YouTube experience. This policy applies to the extension and explains what it accesses, what it stores on your device, and whether that information is sent to us.
Who is responsible
Maxxmod is developed and operated by Pablo Massa under the Neon Glow brand. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form on the Neon Glow website.
Information the extension uses
Maxxmod runs on the YouTube pages listed in its browser permissions. To provide the features you enable, it reads and changes relevant page and player elements, such as controls, video state, visible captions, and page layout. It uses the current YouTube page address when needed for a feature, for example to name a screenshot file. This processing happens in your browser.
Maxxmod stores your feature choices and other interface preferences in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). Some features also store their local state, such as the mini player’s position. This information stays in the browser profile where the extension is installed; Maxxmod does not use Chrome storage sync for these settings.
If you choose to take a screenshot, Maxxmod creates it locally from the video frame and, if you enable that option, the captions visible at that moment. At your request, the screenshot is saved to your device or copied to your clipboard. The extension does not upload the screenshot to Maxxmod.
Information sent to us
The extension does not require a Maxxmod account. It does not contain Maxxmod analytics, advertising trackers, or code that sends your YouTube activity, screenshots, or locally saved settings to Maxxmod servers. We do not sell data obtained through the extension or use it for personalized advertising.
Chrome Web Store, operated by Google, provides developers with aggregate listing statistics, such as installation counts and ratings. Those statistics are provided by the store; they are not collected by Maxxmod code in the extension. Google’s own handling of Chrome Web Store information is governed by Google’s policies.
Browser permissions
Maxxmod requests access to YouTube domains so its features can work on those pages. The storage permission saves your preferences locally. The scripting permission lets the extension apply certain player features in the YouTube tab. These permissions are used to provide the extension’s disclosed functionality.
Sharing and external pages
The extension does not transmit the information described above to Maxxmod or to third-party analytics or advertising services. If you choose to open a link from Maxxmod to a website, including maxxmod.com or neonglow.studio, your browser connects to that site. This extension policy does not cover information you may choose to submit through a website form, such as a contact request, bug report, newsletter subscription, or Pro waitlist. The relevant website page should explain its data practices before you submit information.
Maxxmod’s use of information received through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use such information only to provide or improve the extension’s user-facing features and do not transfer it for advertising or data resale.
Your choices and retention
You can change Maxxmod settings in the extension. Locally saved settings remain in your browser profile until you change or clear them or remove the extension. Screenshots that you save and images that you copy to the clipboard are under your control; removing the extension does not delete files you previously saved.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Maxxmod’s features or data practices change. We will publish the updated policy with a new effective date. If a change introduces materially different handling of user data, we will also provide any additional notice required by Chrome Web Store policies and applicable law.
Independence from Google and YouTube
Maxxmod is an independent browser extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or YouTube.
