YouTube recently introduced animated GIFs in comments, and their autoplay can be distracting. With this new Maxxmod feature, you can prevent autoplay and play GIFs on demand, or hide them entirely while keeping the conversation.
Choose how GIFs behave in YouTube comments:
- Autoplay (YouTube’s default): Keep GIFs playing automatically.
- Play on demand: GIFs stay still by default. Use the Play and Stop buttons directly on each GIF to control playback.
- Hide: Hide GIF attachments while keeping comment text and replies visible.
Introduced in Maxxmod 1.5, alongside fixes and interface improvements. Read the full changelog for version 1.5.
To configure this feature, open Maxxmod Settings → Video page → Comments → GIFs in comments.
